Achtung Gefahr

Soso... finally time for a new summit! After an intense April with a lot of studying and planning for the next summits (more of this in a later post) it is now time for some biking and a bit of hiking. Now, the non swiss germans will be thinking what the heck with title. Well, achtung Gefahr is what we say when we see a car from Aargau. And that is we are now. :)

The Säntis again

Time for some Appenzellerland again, this time Innerrohden. Destination the Säntis via Wasserauen with the skis. After some tests yesterday I found a ski carrying solution that might work even for longer trips. We'll see. For now, lets get on the bike and ride to my transition where I'll meet Giulia and two friends of her. So stay tuned for some more info and hopefully nice solar eclipse pics

Yay, with the perfect weather I was hoping for (the trees full of fresh snow and a nice continuous snow fall) the whole group (Giulia, Simona, Cassy, Arianna, Tessa and her dad) finally reached the summit. Chasseral West is, lets put it nicely, not really a prominent summit, in fact it is just a secondary summit of the Casseral, which is just over the cantonal border. But still we had lots of fun and a really

Wow what a nice feeling, summit and wonderful weather after starting in the crappiest fog ever!!! The ride was cool, first it was sooo foggy that it was actually "raining", then I was suddenly surprised by an airbus alnding 50m fom me, then exiting the fog to a beautiful day and finally confirming my small mountains complex theory... the craziest steep road E-V-E-R!!! but what a view now

After the light lunch we thought a nice run would be good, so we run down to our bikes in snow and mud with only one little fall. Once on the bikes, we went full speed back to the car trying to get there before night fall. Funny enough 500m before the car we reached Chiara and Mauro that had been cruising back from their SchniPo (wiener schitzel with fries). Was really cool to be

The "Small mountains'" paradox stays strong, Zugerberg the big bike climb of today featured over 600m of altitude gain in just over 6km for  nice average steepness of 10%!! but really a nice climb, and really super beautiful the high plain at the top. Only drawback were the million peoples up there escaping the town's fog. After a nice flattish ride in stunning landscapes we finally arrived to Alpli, the end of the bike part.

Sunday trip to Zug

One of the biggest challenges of 27summits.ch is, belive it or not, finding the lowest point of a canton. In fact depending on the geography of the canton the lowest point might not actually be a point but a polygon (for example when the lowest point is a lake) or a line (when the lowest point is a canons border crossing orthogonally a river). Today 's lowest point is probably one of the trickiest ones.
